The 2013 Burgess Lecture: Tash Aw
- Tue 08 Oct 2013
- 6:30 pm
- Free
For the 2013 Burgess Lecture, we are delighted to welcome acclaimed novelist Tash Aw to Manchester to talk about the life and work of Anthony Burgess and his influence on his writing. Tash Aw was brought up in Kuala Lumpur and is now based in London. Described by Doris Lessing as a master storyteller, his three award-winning novels of migrant experience in a changing world – The Harmony Silk Factory, Map of the Invisible World and this year’s Five Star Billionaire, longlisted for the Man Booker Prize 2013 – have established him as one of the leading voices of south-east Asia writing today. Tash Aw will be introduced by Professor John McLeod, who is Professor of postcolonial and diaspora literatures at Leeds University. Tickets £6/£4, available here. A Manchester Literature Festival event in partnership with the International Anthony Burgess Foundation.
