As part of the ESRC Festival of Social Science and in partnership with The University of Manchester, Manchester Metropolitan University, and the Embassy of Japan in the UK Season of Culture 2019-20, this inclusive event brings Japan and media narratives of gender & identity to Manchester.
Come and join us for an afternoon exploring gender, identity, and representation of people in contemporary Japan through media and pop-cultural engagement!
As well as a great line up of experts, there will be an open conversation between speakers & audience to freely discuss on themes of gender & Japan as featuring in the media presented – from kabuki theatre to manga, anime, films, social media and technology.
There will be amazing food and drinks that all the attendees can enjoy and a great chance for networking with people interested in Japan, gender, and beyond!
This event runs from 2pm until 5pm. You can book your free tickets here.
