Reimagining Vintage Burgess
Anthony Burgess was a writer of extraordinary range, his novels rich with linguistic invention, satire, and cultural commentary. The Vintage Burgess collection (pictured below) has introduced his works to new generations of readers, but how might these books be visually reimagined for today’s audience?
This exhibition presents a fresh take on Burgess’s literary legacy through redesigned covers created by students from the Level 4 Foundation Degree in Graphic Design and Illustration at Stockport College. Each cover is the result of a deep engagement with the themes, tone, and style of Burgess’s writing, translated into bold new visual identities.
By exploring typography, imagery, and composition, these students breathe new life into classic texts, demonstrating the power of design to shape our experience of literature.
The launch will take place on Thursday 1 May, 6pm–8pm in the International Anthony Burgess Foundation bar. Entry is free and no advance booking is required.
