Exhibitions. New writing. Concert commissions. Academic research. Public events, in venues and online. And at the core of everything, preserving and promoting our extensive Anthony Burgess archive.
Your donation to the Burgess Foundation supports our mission to promote the life and work of Anthony Burgess in so many ways.
A descriptive overview of the Burgess Foundation’s rich collection of library and archive material is now available for the first time on the Archives Hub and the National Register of Archives. This forms part of our work to promote accessibility and use of this unique and diverse collection relating to one of the UK’s most prolific writers and composers. The descriptive overviews will be updated with more detailed catalogue entries as our two-year Heritage Lottery Fund project progresses, enabling interaction with the collection for a wide range of users including academic researchers, writers, poets, dramatists, composers, artists, and general readers.
If you would like to learn more about the collection and the cataloguing project, please contact Anna at anna@anthonyburgess.org. We also have a series of free monthly tours ‘Unlocking the Anthony Burgess Archive’, during which visitors can see some of the highlights of the collection and learn more about Burgess’s life and work. To reserve your place, please contact us at events@anthonyburgess.org.
